“Kristina Ristić’s paintings and drawings eliminate any kind of indifference one may feel. They provoke the viewer, tickle his/her ability to decode the meanings the artist (may) wishes/ wish to convey. They depict bonds between man and the space he exists in, the Platonic microcosms opposed to the macrocosms. In her works she endeavors to provide a special metaphysical dimension that makes the two cosmoses man resides in equal.”

“…Kristina Ristić has chosen the path of synthesis: equally represented in her works are enlarged forms that can be said to represent traces of abstract thought as well as the precise, concrete forms of reduced dimensions. We can see when reading her large format paintings that she has the same attitude towards the image as she does in her drawings and sketches of smaller format, in other words, that her methods of Derridian deconstruction represent a serious and complete system that she consistently applies, a system on the basis of which her readings of concepts and issues can be placed within the broad range of exploring man’s position in the world as within ourselves.”

„Slike i crteži Kristine Ristić eliminišu svaku ravnodušnost. Provociraju posmatrača, golicaju našu sposobnost da odgonetnemo značenja o kojima umetnica (možda) želi da progovori. Reklo bi se da se radi o sponama čoveka i prostora njegove egzistencije, o platonovskom mikrokosmosu suprotstavljenom makrokosmosu. Svojim radovima ona nastoji da obezbedi posebnu metafizičku dimenziju kojom se izjednačavaju ta dva kosmosa u kojima prebiva čovek.“

„...Kristina Ristić je odabrala put sinteze: na njenim radovima ravnopravno egzistiraju uveličane forme za koje bismo mogli reći da su u stvari tragovi apstraktnog načina mišljenja, kao i precizne, konkretne forme smanjenih dimenzija. Kroz njena dela velikih dimenzija čitamo da je odnos prema liku isti kao i na crtežima ili skicama manjeg formata, drugim rečima - da su njeni metodi deridijanske dekonstrukcije jedan ozbiljan i celovit sistem kojeg se dosledno drži, sistem na osnovu kojeg njena iščitavanja pojmova i problema mogu da se podvedu u široki raspon istraživanja čovekovog mesta u svetu, ali i u nama samima.“

“…This uncontrollable, invisible exchange of vital energy that takes place in the space between the people involved in these intentional or accidental encounters is the central point around which the whole conceptual idea develops. The polysementism of this cycle of paintings is expressed through the continual deconstruction of the elements of the image, that are then reincarnated and further endlessly recombined, disappearing and again appearing but the whole time remaining connected with the original, all present motif- the head.”

“…Although these painting are by their formal characteristics, and primarily by the powerful and dynamic exploitation of the painterly matter close to the painting of gesture, they retain essential elements of figurative art depicted by expressive and suggestive features of drawing combined by broad thick layers of paint.”

“…A dialogue structure is also suggested by the form of a diptych that in this case represents a literal and metaphoric ideal compositional solution that could be the harmonized place of the golden section but also the scene of cataclysmic collisions.”

„...Upravo ta nekontrolisana, nevidljiva razmena vitalne energije koja  zauzima prostor između aktera namernih ili slučajnih  susreta,  centralno je mesto oko koga se dalje razvija celokupna konceptualna nit. Višeznačnost u ovom ciklusu slika  izražena je kroz neprekidnu dekonstrukciju elemenata slike, koji se reinkarniraju i  dalje beskonačno rekombinuju, iščezavaju i iznova pojavljuju, a sve vreme zadržavajući vezu sa prvobitnim,  sveprisutnim motivom - glavom.“

„..Iako su po formalnim  osobenostima, i pre svega snažnoj  dinamičkoj eksploataciji slikarske materije bliski slikarstvu gesta, ovi radovi u biti zadržavaju elemente figurativnosti izražne ekspresivnim i sugestivnim svojstvima  crteža u kombinaciji sa širokim pastuoznim bojenim namazima.“

„...Dijaloška struktura sugerisana je i samom  formom diptiha, koji u ovom slučaju, predstavlja i doslovno, i metaforički idealno kompoziciono rešenje,  koje bi  moglo biti harmonizovano mesto zlatnog preseka, ali i poprište kataklizmičkih sudara.“

Diptych paintings depicting specific dialogues are the main themes of the artist’s oeuvre. Pairs of imaginary individuals caught in different situations: conversations, encounters, potent silences, conflicts or crossovers are a pretext for a visual interpretation of the energy that can be experienced and exchanged in such situations. Kristina Ristić’s painting goes beyond the tradition portrayal of the human face and her newly created individuals are conceived as complex metaphors of character and human relations reduced to minimalist gesture and mimetics.
